Zap Kit

This is the 2007 kit. I wanted to design a kit that paid tribute
to Major Taylor's accomplishments and and our club. I also removed the fades
that manufactures can't seem to get right. So, add the years of his titles
to the sleeves and back pockets, The club's name on the back, sides and
chest, add the new font and voila... The ZAP kit is born! The kit is about
us and him. What else matters? The shorts do not have a sublimated rear
panel for simplicity. Who needs all that garish fluff that makes a design
look so busy.

Major Taylor Colored Cyclone Jersey

Take a nickname that has a negative connotation, put
a funky storm cloud from a radar shot on the back, chest and sleeves... The
Colored Cyclone jersey. Then make it Badass Black and put the name of the
jersey in small white letters as if it were a piece of art.

Chartreuse Collection Long Sleeve

I was just playing with the shade of green that was to be used early on. I went monochromatic in order to capture the look used by Euskadi Euskaltel Spanish cycling team.

Size matters! The idea here was to take the Associations logo
and make it oversized as I did on the sleeves of our 2003 club kit. Castelli
then did that later in the season with a couple of their jerseys. The goal
here was to make Major Taylor's figure on the bike larger in order for a
more striking appearance. I place his front wheel in front of the T in order
to give the illusion that he is riding right off of the jersey.

I then took the chest and back graphics, cut it in half and placed one half
on each sleeve.

Same oversized graphics on the shorts side panels. This is the first
time I experimented with the idea of not having a sublimated rear panel. I
like it. Very, very simple and to the point. No fluff

Major Taylor Winter Jacket

My first thought for the design of the jacket was to make the body and collar Black and the sleeves Green. As opposed to the design of the jersey. That way if you splash or spray Winter and Early Spring slop on yourself and fellow riders the stains would not be as visible as it would be on our Green body design. But, continuity in design won out against design interests, so I stuck with the tried and true. I do like the addition of the Black side panels with the Ruby Red and White letters for design experimentation. I also shrunk the Associations logo on the shoulders for a toned down, simple look.
The jacket is surprisingly warm and I doubt I would wear it on any ride where the temperature would go above 50 degrees. I have worn it on rides where I have run into snow flurries on 9W above Piermont and still broke a sweat. I suggest a short sleeve jersey, undershirt and armwarmers under this jacket. Don't underestimate its light weight. The Wind- Tex fabric is totally wind resistant and water repellant. Cold air just cannot penetrate it!
